Fitness expert and on-air personality Lanré Idewu, B.S., C.P.T. has been dubbed the “Dr. Phil of Fitness.” With over 12 years of personal training and personal development experience, Lanré has appeared in publications like People Magazine, Elan Extreme and Black Elegance; on television shows such as Entertainment Tonight, both NBC’s “Biggest Loser” and “Starting Over,” E! Entertainment Television’s “101 Incredible Celebrity Slimdowns,” 20/20 and countless other fitness shows and commercials.
Lanré began working at small private gyms and large fitness centers before starting his own company, Fit4LA.com, known for its multidisciplinary approach to exercise and its celebrity clients which include Carnie Wilson (Wilson Phillips), Rhonda Britten (Life coach, NBC’s “Starting Over”), Hattie Winston (Becker, ER), Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends), Sharif Atkins (ER, Hawaii), Dawn Robinson (En Vogue) and Michael Jace (Michael Jordan, The Shield), J. August Richards (Angel), supermodels Bobbi Billard and Dazza del Rio and others to whom he is contractually obligated not to mention.
Lanre’s believes that fitness is for everyone, not just those that can afford private trainers. As a result, he donates a portion of his time to inner-city schools to help educate the youth about diet and exercise, through interactive group sessions. He is also actively involved with the Step-Up Women’s Network, ReelDreams for kids and various other Non-Profit causes. His commanding presence coupled with an engaging and charming personality allow him to successfully manage large groups of fitness participants.
He graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Biochemistry, along with additional coursework in Exercise Science, Physiology, Kinesiology and Nutrition. Lanré attended medical school at the University Chicago, but became increasingly disenchanted with the current state of medicine and its focus on treating symptoms. As a result he found himself attracted to the more personalized and preventative approach to wellness afforded by personal training.
Lanré combines his knowledge of health, nutrition, anatomy, physiology and motivation to address all aspects of his clients’ fitness needs. Lanré utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to exercise. Using elements of yoga, Pilates, cardio, traditional and non-traditional weight training Lanré engages his clients in workouts that are fun, yet intense and effective. He takes pride in personally tailoring each client’s program, according to his or her fitness goals, experience and ability level, whether in a private or group setting. Lanré is also a strong believer in the power of proper nutrition. He creates individualized diet plans based on clients’ goals, food preferences and eating habits. Lanre’s diverse experience and knowledge base allow him to construct a quality, comprehensive, customized fitness program that brings about lifelong results.
Lanré is also a former EMT paramedic and holds several personal training certifications including those from both Apex Fitness Group and The National Academy of Sports Medicine.
